On the afternoon of February 19th, the third day of the Chinese New Year, over 2,200 domestic and international passengers aboard the Star Voyager cruise ship, operated by the Star Cruises, arrived at Xiamen International Cruise Home Port, Southeast China's Fujian Province, marking the official start of the 2026 cruise season for the Port of Xiamen. Its arrival added more excitement to the inbound tourism market of the coastal city during the Spring Festival holiday.
As the cruise ship docked, Xiamen International Cruise Home Port transformed into an immersive Chinese New Year pavilion featuring Minnan (southern Fujian) culture. With lion dances and the thunderous beat of drums, the festive atmosphere combined seamlessly with authentic Minnan cultural elements.
During the holiday, various locations including the cruise home port and the Heping Wharf were dressed to impress, creating an immersive welcoming atmosphere with traditional costumes, rituals, and charm.
From February to April, the Star Voyager will operate nine trips on the "Hong Kong-Xiamen-Hong Kong" route. Starting in April, the Adora Mediterranea cruise will operate four home port routes in Xiamen, offering short leisure trips, twin island tours, multi-country cruises, and long-distance international voyages.
Huang Yubin, general manager of Xiamen International Cruise Home Port Group Co., Ltd., said his company will continue to enhance operational capabilities, improve supporting services, and expand the "cruise+" experience, further establishing the cruise home port as the first stop for inbound cruise tourism in China with international influence.
Beyond the cruise home port, Xiamen is building a comprehensive inbound travel service system, promoting "Xiamen Service" as a trusted and friendly brand for international tourists.
Since February 17th, China has implemented a unilateral visa-free policy for regular passport holders from the United Kingdom and Canada.
Xiamen has also taken the lead in the country to launch the "Facilitated Inbound Service Package" mini program. After registration via the mini program, foreign tourists can generate QR codes for accommodation registration, metro travel, and temporary medical insurance filing, allowing them to handle customs clearance, travel, and medical needs seamlessly.
