A picture of prosperity! This is how a former UN Under-Secretary-General sees Xinjiang

This episode has invited Fabrizio Hochschild, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General. This marks Hochschild's second visit to Xinjiang. He pointed out that Xinjiang enjoys a strategic geographical location, serving as a hub connecting eastern China with Central Asia and Europe. Regarding international biases concerning the development of human rights in Xinjiang, he stated that global perceptions often diverge from local realities, and the best solution is to open doors and welcome visitors, enabling more people, especially human rights experts, to see for themselves.

In his eyes, Xinjiang, as a business center, is actively showcasing its innovative capabilities, sustained population growth, and a brand-new, modernized urban infrastructure to the world, stated Hochschild. He expressed hope that those who have never visited Xinjiang or hold misunderstandings about it would come in person to see for themselves, thereby dispelling misconceptions and fostering greater understanding.
